About The Artwork
Such girls could be possible my great-grandmothers. These traditions have been for centuries, passed down from generation to generation. This topic has always impressed me and excited my imagination. The connection of times, with old legends, perhaps some of them are very ancient. I have come back to this story many times and will probably be doing it again. I painted the portrait from life, then finished it for a long time in the workshop. I really wanted to convey the feelings that live in us today, that have always been and will be. I'm talking about love, of course. My heroine of the picture holds a chamomile in her hand. It may not be quite a tradition, but I remember it from my childhood. We tore off a petal, repeating: "love, does not love." When the last petal ended, the fortune-telling ended there. But here are more of my feelings and experiences, although this is not a self-portrait.
