Acrylic and plaster on cradled wood panel Next in my series using the metaphor of clay and pottery, examines how we are shaped both individually and collectively. "Neighbourhood" looks at our surroundings as we grow and how it forms who we are. Backyards...fences...playgrounds...schools...neighbours. Clay...formed, shaped, glazed, fired, complete. I believe in the ability of art to transform your environment into a place inspiration. I believe that art can evoke feelings and memories and is essential for our individuality. I believe in the investment of art. Come along for the ride. This painting is acrylic varnished for durability and saturation of color with edges painting in charcoal and arrives ready to hang with no further framing required. Meaningful, tactile paintings worthy of recognition and collection.

As an independant artist, I invest myself in creating pieces that touch the soul; to have an individual experience in humanity, emotion and to spark the imagination. What do I want my art to say? We are all connected through life and experiences. This inspires me to work and create. I want people to see our connection. I am a studio painter with a process that leads to multi-layered abstracts. Abstract Expressionism is my genre of choice but I lean toward an aesthetic of minimalism. I want strong detail, harmonious composition and a serene outcome. As a Canadian painter who grew up in Windsor, Ontario and now lives in the Algoma Region of Northern Ontario, I received influences from the strong automotive industry combined with the beauty of the Algoma landscape where many of the Group of Seven painted. Oh, and by the way, you pronounce Jackie Janisse just like Henri Matisse.
