About The Artwork
The Japanese title "Neko" for this painting translates to "Cat" and has no other meanings. Like with every painting, this one comes with a story as well, a simple one. I was working on another painting, an abstract reclining nude, and was struggling for days and weeks to find the right balance. Frustrated with my accomplishments for the day I was sitting on the floor scrutinizing the painting while my cat, Sir Winston, was relentlessly chasing his own tail and seemingly having a good time. I thought to myself: "Sometimes I just want to be an animal!" That's how the painting was conceived. Proceeds will go Winston and the two other felines in my house. The Hiragana font and grammar has been approved by three Japanese friends, so no embarrassment here!
