Frank van Roessel (1980) is a musician, author, and painter from Haarlem, Netherlands. His work is graphic, absurdist, and colorful. Van Roessel is currently working on a series in which he prominently places objects like parasols, garbage cans, and posts in flat Dutch polder landscapes. He is always in search of beauty in the everyday. Whoever zooms in on something—anything—almost always encounters some form of beauty. Van Roessel coined the term "square-meter happiness" to describe this. Together with his wife, theater maker Mara van Vlijmen, he wrote the book Toevalsdieren (Accidental Animals), a guide to animals that have come into being by chance. The book was published in 2017 by Uitgeverij de Harmonie. From 2013 to 2015, Toevalsdieren was a regular column in de Volkskrant newspaper. As a musician and songwriter, Van Roessel has been involved with artists such as HIT ME TV, Eckhardt and the House, Roald van Oosten, and Anthem Club.
