Upon learning to scuba dive,I returned home and painted 'Neutral Buoyancy'. This is a related term which defines the perfect state, in which you are neither floating up nor sinking down.
With this euphoric feeling in mind, the dream-like composition reveals an appreciation of nature, combined with a vivid imagination. The mostly dark-coloured drip marks appear to signify rain, whilst the white roses appear sheltered within the light, fluffy clouds. Through the positioning, the roses almost appear aspirational, as they are placed above the viewer's eyeline. Instead, we face the monotonous downpour, whilst looking upward and yearning for the luminous, floating roses. The paradox of white clouds and rain serves as a reminder that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I am a Leicestershire based artist working from my studio in the countryside of Foxton, near Market Harborough, England, UK. I lived & worked in cities around the world for many years as a designer in the fashion industry, living in in London and spending long periods in South East Asia before settling back in Leicestershire with my Dutch husband & our 3 sons. I have always been painting in my head and seen life through the eyes of a painter, disturbing me when I’m sleeping and distracting me when I’m driving! When I finally had more time to paint after raising my family it was a great relief to everyone when I was able to put my thoughts & feelings back into paint! Colour is my passion & the ways that sunlight and water change it are my fascination and absorbing distraction. Painting is my meditation. I create my own sunlit cheerful world in my studio & spend my time challenging myself daily to be the best painter I can be. I have a large studio on Swingbridge Street in Foxton where I can work on several pieces at once. I exhibit widely and have had several very enjoyable solo exhibitions. I sell original paintings & a limited number of prints of my paintings online, here & on all the main social media sites. My work is now in many private collections around the UK, in The Netherlands, France, Germany & Italy. Hens, or chooks as they are called further afield, seem to have an international appeal and although I do paint many other things I always seem to return to them.
