No 3 (Pink+Urban Series) 2020 Acrylic, spray paints, oil pastel, concrete on canvas 80*60 cm + frame (black plastic) The artist balances between attachment to harsh and restrained industrial aesthetics and the desire to create her own bright and safe reality. Anna Snegina’s works are expressive attempts at bringing the artist’s inner self as well as media she uses, into direct communication with the outer world. Anna works with various media, combining different types of materials: acrylics, spray paints, thread, stone, wood. Snegina claims that the main themes of her artworks as well as the main sources of inspiration are the interaction of natural forms and materials with color, the presence of color in the urban environment, and the creation of her personal escapism sources.

Russia
I was born and grew up in the Urals region, a place where urban life of an industrial city meets beautiful nature, where Europe meets Asia. It’s the place where people seem to be rigid and rough, but with a burning sense of justice and strong love of freedom Maybe that is why in my art I love to combine materials that are unlikely to be combined and follow my own path. Whether it’s a photo artwork, painting or a sculpture, it’s always the creative process that leads me in my art, and it’s some kind of studying the world and introspection at the same time. Though my painting style mostly can be defined as abstract expressionism, there are some representational elements or text in my works sometimes. I work with bold brushstrokes and experiment with the dripping of paint. For me, the natural progress of a piece is the final vision. That is, this piece was not predetermined but instead reached its cohesion while under production. I work with natural materials that are historically connected with the industry of the Urals region, such as minerals, and metals. My works being partly formalistic, at the same time always represent the idea of connection with the origins. I prefer different and diverse interpretations of my works. They have as many meanings as there are people looking at them. My goal is My goal is to inspire those who see my artwork to discover the beauty in ordinary and simple things: colors, shapes, everyday objects and nature.
