Ships in a Crate
Hironobu Aoki works in a conceptual way. His small, serial plates are composed of pastose, compact acrylic and gypsum, applied on aluminium background. They reveal a chromaticity which alters constantly by small nuances. Their intense, irregular surface finishing gives them a two-dimensional, spatiousness-generating character. Hironobu Aoki also works with paper which through a particular treatment gets a special surface finishing, resulting in a relief-like structure with an increased colour intensity.
