About the Artist

Natasha Kanevski

United States

My name is Natasha Kanevski.
I create sculptures on canvas and wall installations.
My work has appeared in and won awards at juried art shows across the US and Europe, and has been shown with select galleries, including Solo and Duo Exhibits.
My practice explores the tension between our desire for control and the inherent uncertainty of human existence. We inhabit bodies, identities, and cultural frameworks we did not entirely choose, yet we continually try to organize experience, establish boundaries, and create meaning.
Through monochromatic sculptural compositions, I investigate fragility, individuality, connection, and impermanence. My sculptural elements function as human presences, similar at first glance yet individually marked by folds, irregularities, fingerprints, and traces of their making. Their rough surfaces resist uniformity, revealing vulnerability and resilience as interconnected conditions.
My compositions move between structure and dissolution. Some forms gather within carefully defined boundaries, reflecting our instinct to impose order; others expand beyond the canvas, occupy architectural space, or become suspended installations.
This progression allows me to explore different states of containment, interdependence, and freedom.
Rather than concealing imperfection, I treat it as evidence of existence. My work inhabits the space between opposing conditions: control and surrender, fragility and strength, individuality and collectivity, order and entropy. Through material, repetition, and spatial transformation, I seek to reflect the complexity of being human and the profound connection that persists within our differences.
