Non mea voluntas sed tua fiat (Latin) “Not my will, but thine by done”. The original 'lost bible page' piece was created using quill pen and L'encre de Chine, 22k Gold Leaf and self-mixed, high pigment cobalt blue paint on cold pressed, italian parchment paper and framed in worn Italian poplar wood on dark blue velvet matting. The inspiration for this original piece is contained in the latin phrase, featured at the top of the design ”non mea voluntas sed tua fiat" (not my will, but thine be done) which is arguably, the greatest moment and most admirable expression in the story of Jesus's life. The biblical text, Luke 22:37-44 (Which contains primarily The Atonement) is taken directly from the original manuscript of the 1611 King James Version and has been meticulously penned in the popular 17th century font type, Blackletter. The boarder features moonlit olive branches, medieval flowers and stars in gold guild. The paper has been aged using various heat applications and ink solutions. The remainder of the design is coloured using English organic watercolour, similar to that of post printing lithograph colouring of the 18th century onwards.
