Nose study. Painting

This a bit cheeky nose study was inspired by idea of studying nose from a different angle. As a realist artist I tend to think of painting as a sculpture and every brush stroke placed is kind like a clay being added or moulded this sculpture. The nose is a very unique part of the face, and one of the challenges is to feel its form in the places less visible, such as nostrils. I had an idea to paint this nose to study and to “feel” it, to have a better sense of what I am “sculpting” when working on portraits. Oil on aluminum panel primed with oil gesso.
