Most people approach art as a tool for personal expression, so the artist ca share his or her perspective, vision or opinion about any given subject. I believe, art is not an outlet for us artists to “create” an opinion. Instead I think about it as a way of understanding what’s around us and making sense of it. Just like musicians make up melodies and lyrics that relate to their experiences to generate a deeper understanding of how they are processing that experience, or like dogs understand their surroundings through smell, I believe the artist understands the world by observing, feeling, and by perpetuating that feeling through painting or drawing or other technique. ​ It is a very intimate and personal process that allows us artists to get to know ourselves so much better. This series was inspired by morning meditation sessions watching color transition in the sky. Every painting offers an opportunity for deep appreciation and contemplation of the process of becoming that takes place twice a day, every single day.
