About The Artwork

October afternoon. The frosty freshness of the autumn day, the first snowfall, the transparent air inspired the author to write this work. In nature there is a frequent change of weather: now the snow, now the sun. The composition of the work is built on the alternation of warm unsaturated silvery and white masses. Very restrained coloring on the finest nuances of gray with accents of black and red. A slight diagonal gives movement, which symbolizes the frequent change of weather in nature in the fall.Much attention is paid to the technology of oil painting. Multi-layered, textured writing with long drying of each layer. Each step of the work was carefully planned. The painting is not varnished and has a slightly matt surface. The understated coloring of the painting goes well with almost any color of the interior. Materials used: coarse sturdy canvas (tarpaulin) stretched on the stretcher. Framing on wedges, made of Siberian pine. Self-cooked primer is used according to a recipe that has been tested for decades. The work is painted with high quality oil paints, lightfast colors, made in St. Petersburg. The work will be sent in a plywood box, guaranteed to be protected from mechanical damage.

About the artist Vladimir Kolov (Vladimir Valentinovich Kolov, 1961) was born in Kurgan, Russia and graduated from the State Institute of Art in Krasnoyarsk, where he studied painting under renowned Russian artists Vladilen Kharlamov and Anatoly Znak. In recent years, Vladimir succeeded in many genres including still life, portraiture and genre art. His favorite motifs are evening and night lightning, unusual nature and space phenomena, provincial life and rhythms of the modern city. The unique ease and willfulness of Vladimir’s brushstrokes give a special texture to his paintings. Sometimes a thin layer on the easel reflects the smooth and gradual movements of the artist; whereas sometimes the painter’s short palette knife strokes create an effect like cooled magma. The artist says his creative method may be called associative realism as he doesn’t lose connection with nature while separating himself from it. Balancing on this edge, this unique artist is constantly changing, while preserving his individuality.
