ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was inspired by the movie The Monuments Men (2014) portraying the rescue of the Madonna and Child of Bruges during World War II. The champagne bottles surrounding the Madonna have the fictitious names given by George Clooney and Grant Heslov for the famous men who were involved in the operation to rescue this statue. The two horizontal bottles represented the two men who lost their lives during the rescue mission.

Using oil or acrylic on canvas, paper or wood, I paint landscapes, cityscapes, and surreal-impressionist representations of women. Brightly colored and uplifting, my paintings tell stories that touch the relationship of sentient beings with nature, and the tribulations of women throughout history. Some of these landscapes and cities will disappear due to climate change. I want to leave a legacy of what they used to look like.
