About The Artwork

Before I start painting, I cut several simple, unique, flowing abstract shapes out of small, colored sheets of felt. I randomly lay the cut small shapes flat on a table. I move them around overlapping them until the arrangement is very stimulating to me. I created a small felt 'object'. I take a photo of the felt object. Then I zoom in on an interesting, smaller section of the photo image (detail). Now I start the painting phase. I paint this small, selected section of the object image on a large canvas: the first offspring of the original felt object. I repeat this process on another section of the object image: the second painting, the second offspring. Repeating the above process several times, I create a series of (large) paintings all deriving from, being the offsprings of, that single, small original felt object. Reality's magnificence lies in the details.
