About The Artwork
I love the way the old walls and windows and doors tell us that we are still standing strong in the concrete jungles around. The beauty of the old wadas( very old structures which were built in Pune and housed many families and had a close knit culture) which are now being demolished and making way to a new building complex. They have their own stories to tell. I just want to hold on to these old structures and their stories in the form of painting. And my medium is watercolour.

I am Maya Wakankar, age 53, living in Pune , Maharashtra,India. I have been born and brought up in Pune, known as the education hub of India. I have graduated in Hotel Management .Since i had an inclination in painting from childhood, i have taken it up as a hobby. I paint in water colours and acrylics and have been doing so for the past 8 years. My subjects vary and I usually paint what i like or see around me. Most of my paintings have been done from references which I myself have clicked on locations when I travel. Nature inspires me!
