One Newt's Journey Up Painting

I have always found the aquatic world fascinating, it seems almost unworldly and so rarely seen by human eyes. As a keep naturist pond life is essential to a balanced habit and the preservation of many species, one of which is the Smooth Newt. Here is a single newt making its way up through the weed. I created this piece using a number of technique including fabric painting, embroidery, quilting, applique and cording. All my work is framed, signed and mounted where possible. Due to the three dimensional nature of my work, most are displayed in box frames. This allow the piece to be viewed at different angles making the most of the detailing and gives a professional finish. Each frame is custom made by framing professionals in the UK, giving the best possible finish for the individual piece of artwork. Pieces are framed with a 2mm Crystal Clear ' XT ' Plexiglass, which is the modern, clean & safe acrylic alternative to traditional glass glazing. It is crystal clear, shatterproof and conforms to the latest BSI safety standards. Each piece of framed artwork comes with a hanging kit. This piece is framed in a white frame with a grey mount trimmed in white which really brings out the colours.
