Painting: Acrylic on Paper.
The continuous unfolding of space leads to expansion and eventually infinity. When writing about Immensity, the philosopher Gaston Bachelard was referring to the poem “Correspondences” by Charles Baudelaire. The poet writes about moments when “the sense of existence is immensely increased”, when the intimate space merges with the grandeur of the cosmos or the divine, when the interior and exterior are in osmosis.I explored this concept of vastness so dear to Baudelaire by opening up the interior to a wider space, a Beyond, an expansion of the self and the soul. I decided to make all the layers coexist to emphasise the possibility of passage and the flux between the intimate of the inner self and the world.
