About The Artwork

'Orange Granita' has layers and layers of mark-making, textures and colour. If you scroll through to the close-up photos of this painting, you will be able to see some of the background layers peaking through the very light green background. Shades of green/grey, ochre, burnt sienna, various shades of dark greens and a pop of red/orange, as well as mark-making in pencil, pen, and paint. The Peony has been hand drawn onto music sheet paper, and then a series of what I call 'dotting work or pointillism' is applied around the edge and some on the inside of the peony whilst allowing some of the music sheet paper to continue to show through. The canvas has a base layer of molding and crackle paste and is highly textured, so the name and title are written on the back of the painting. PLEASE NOTE - any in situ images of this artwork are to offer decor, installation and framing examples only and are not to exact scale, so please do check the dimensions before purchasing. This original painting will NEVER be reproduced in any other format (eg print or NFT), so you can enjoy the benefits of knowing that this is a one-of-a-kind, made especially for your home. Signed and dated on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authentication. This piece is created on a 40mm frame-wrapped canvas, sealed with fixative and a triple gloss coat, gallery-finished edges, ready to hang. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Natalie is a Western Australian Artist who lives and works South of Margaret River on her family's farm. Her love of the colours of the bushland she is surrounded by, country living and the native fauna and flora inspire her works today. The inspiration for my paintings comes from the beautiful bushland I walk through every day with my dog. My home farm is located in Margaret River, Western Australia and as far as the eye can see, I am surrounded by an ever changing vista of Australian native fauna and flora. The process I use to begin each piece, is by tearing up old and damaged book papers that I have sourced often from thrift shops or have been gifted by friends and family. It gives me time to think about and plan my colours and composition. The painting process for me is entirely immersive, quiet, meditative. Much like my walks through the bush where I live. I use a variety of stencils, stamping, scribbling with pen or pencil, spray paint, dotting, moulding paste, crackle paste and the list goes on! All of which create a visually and tactilely exquisite finished piece.
