About The Artwork

Shopping has just become a reality for some of us in the UK with some places allowing shops to be open. Although sometimes we do still find ourselves reeled in by those unbeatably cheap prices & super speedy delivery times online. So here is an artwork that speaks to us, that we can sympathise with, capturing that guilt we may feel when we succumb to those temptations. Or when you see those few packages in your stairwell/by the door with your name on it & quickly gather them hoping the neighbours don't judge! As much as the modern world of shopping is amazing, it is also very scary! So let's do our best to support local businesses and creatives when we can to keep them stable.

I am a contemporary figurative artist based in Brighton. Born in Scotland I was raised as an athlete but always strived to be a painter. The disciplined nature of my upbringing is reflecting in the meticulously detailed artworks I create. Spending four years at Edinburgh College of Art and a period at the Hungarian University of Fine Art, my fascination for classical architecture and sculpture strengthened. The fascination for the grandiosity of renaissance art contrasting with banal everyday life has been the propeller for the oil paintings in my recent painting series. Fusing classism with contemporary in order to provoke a dialogue concerning current social or political issues. My paintings build a bridge between the old and the new. The Sculptures in my paintings are meticulously chosen subject to their concepts, mythology or tableaux to sympathise with contemporary issues. I am continuing to create oil paintings in relation to the ever-changing experiences the world is faced with.
