'Twas 2014. Such a long time ago. We took a (ruinously expensive) flight over Mt. Cook and the Tasman Glacier. I took hordes of photos, and some of them didn't work out too bad. I don't remember what river valley this is, though I'm sure the pilot told us. The painting is not an exact reproduction of every rock and every snow pool, but it does bear some resemblance to the scene; maybe someone with vision poor enough to match mine will recognise it and can tell me its name. This was painting #33 in the Lyons on Lockdown series. I'd undertaken to paint one picture a day during the Covid19 Lockdown, and had done so. In fact, on day 22, I'd painted two pictures, which I numbered #22A and #22B, so painting #33 is actually the 34th in the series. This (painting #33) was painted the day New Zealand transited from Level 4 Lockdown to Level 3, so I stopped painting. A couple of days later, someone reminded me that Level 3 was still officially a lockdown state, so I went back to painting one a day...
