About The Artwork

Hermès Moschophore Acropole with gold 18k. One of the most well-known exhibits of the Acropolis Museum is the Calf Man, a young man carrying a calf on his shoulders. He appears naked, but the thin robe that falls from his shoulders was originally colored and would be easily distinguished from his flesh. A band holds back his long hair, which curls around his neck. His gaze remains expressive, even though the daughters are gone. On his lips is the "archaic smirk", the well-known restrained smile that gives life to archaic sculptures. The calf he carries is his offering to Athena. A sense of peace and intimacy emerges as the animal's head tilts towards the man's and its tail lazily drapes over its master's arm. At the base of the statue is engraved clockwise, i.e. from right to left, the inscription that informs us that it was dedicated by Rhombos, son of Palos.

Everything that is changing around us, all the socio-political changes and the reactions of the people, is the main stimulus of my work. In search of a way to express better what I think of things, I experiment with new forms and materials, but always, with a dominant means of painting. In the most recent cycle of my work is summed up on the one hand of the abstraction that has revealed to me a new way of expressing the form's capacity, the intangible nature of the objects or nature, thus making the viewer of the project actively participate and complement the "gaps" , and on the other hand the shadow as a "tool" of abstraction, which often plays a dominant role in the work, creating strong contradictions between intangible and material.
