About The Artwork

THE PEYOTE SEED CUT is a variant of the peyote seed; and it is a reinterpreted abstraction of the peyote root. In essence, peyote cut is literally the result of cutting a peyote in half, and in aesthetic terms, it is the inner face of the same peyote, which I represent by cylindrical layers. Happy World Series, deals with the morphology and architecture of the peyote plant, as well as for its effects. At the same time, I re interpreted the aesthetics of the Huichol art, as the result of the effects of peyote. As in all I do; Geometry is still present in my work. Happy World comprises of Painting on latex, canvas, MDF board and Digital; also various types of sculptures, as well as installations. ***This piece is painted using natural pigments from indigenous communities.

From my early age I have been attracted to architecture and I discovered that modernism is the style that inspires me the most but also the aesthetic legacy of the popular arts of Mexico, especially the indigenous arts, and I thought, how would it be to mix it with the aesthetic concepts of the handicrafts and textiles of these ancient people? I confess that it has been an arduous task of permanent experimentation and I can say that from the beginning of my career I have been an abstract minimalist artist but this process has been organically leading me to a metamorphosis where I have allowed myself to go from the extremes of geometric simplism to the saturation of textures of maximalism.
