"Painting #25" Painting

This painting uses found plywood as a ground. Note that its dimensions are approximate. As the wood I find and use is rarely square, framing this work would be a true challenge. I discourage any effort to do so as I feel the painting should stand on its own. “Painting #25” uses thick white paint which almost blocks out the underpainting. I’ve allowed “windows” for the eyes, nose and lips, which show a lot of heavy scaping/sgraffito. This head is striking for its abstracted shape contrasted to the detail of the features. The background in this painting was left relatively simple, with fewer incised lines coming through the blue pigment.
