I started this painting in 2008, around the time I lived with Bow Arts Trust in East London, it's painted on the reverse of a piece of steel checker plate I salvaged from the steel workshop I was working at then. I added the cow a couple of years ago.

Greg Genestine-Charlton was born in London, 1983, to a French mother and an English father, also an artist. He spent his formative years in the South East of England and Corrèze, France. Growing up in a creative household, Greg was interested in cultural and creative sensibilities from a young age, often surrounded by family and friends who exposed him to enlightening ideas about creativity. Greg likes to use different mediums simultaneously, such as oil, acrylic, graphite, pastel and gouache on paper, canvas, metal and wood whose layers offer transparencies which produce unusual patterns and textures. Experimenting with colour is an integral part of his practice. Greg generally doesn’t make work with a fixed narrative and aesthetic language in sight, process and the possibilities of unforeseen results are what keep me excited about continuing to make new work.
