About The Artwork
The portrait of Pele, based on the archival photo of Pele posing for Puma advert. The painting features everything best in football (soccer) - joy, happiness, fair game, colours, respect. Everything that the game should strive to be. The artwork has been shortlisted for the first National Football Art Prize 2021 in the UK. This series features a subjective selection of famous people, recognisable faces, culture icons, film stars, music legends, sport heroes . The key for selection lies in the subjects' capability of uniting nations, thanks to the work / art they have created. The paintings are of large format, very vibrant, featuring bold colours, and intense energy, in order to match the extraordinary personalities. The medium used is predominantly acrylic paint, with the addition of permanent markers, coloured pencils and oil pastels. Some colours used are fluorescent, to add spectacular light to the surface. Every artwork will arrive securely packed in a handmade wooden crate, signed, dated, and ready to hang.

I am largely inspired by the joy and glam of 70s, 80s, and 90s, including jazz, pop and rock music, iconic movies, unforgettable personalities of that era. I paint from the heart, using bright, often fluorescent colours, emphasising the atmosphere of these times rather than the very accuracy of a detail. I like experimenting, crossing the boundaries between figurative and abstract, illustration and pop art, adding my own marks and symbols. My ultimate aim is to create pieces which make people feel happy, with an added twist of warm nostalgia.
