About The Artwork
Rudy Rotter (American, 1913 - 2001) was a self-taught artist of prodigious production who created art over a 45 year period. Rudy was both a small town dentist and an unheralded passionate artist. He believed his visionary expression came forth through the disciplined process of working daily in his studio. He used common materials acquired at no cost which freed him to create without inhibition. This piece is part of a series of vibrant work created during his last decade of life. Rotter's art was recently featured at the Outsider Art Fair 2019 in NYC, and the Folk Art Messenger magazine. Rotter was an Outsider artist who made art daily for decades driven by the strength of his own vision.
