The portrait was based on the paintings of the Dutch Renaissance artists Rogier van der Weyden and Robert Kampen, who most accurately conveyed the images of women of their time, including the attributes of their sophisticated headdresses and clothes, which were then in fashion. Here I decided to paint a costume portrait of a modern model. Constructing the image of a beautiful and mysterious lady, I bowed down to the fact that the character of the women of the middle class of that era was piety. Prayerfully folded hands were one of the images, often rendered by artists. And the appearance of the girl I painted was very similar in expression to medieval portraits: hands in prayer, humble gaze. Her clothes were like the toilets of medieval ladies. On the head of the model is a very interesting ennen headdress. In the 15th century, they acquired great importance, and the hairstyle, on the contrary, lost it. It was considered fashionable to open the forehead and temples, as well as the back of the head to show the beauty of a long neck. Ennen was made from linen and transparent silk fabric, as large sizes, and modest shape, they were starchy or fixed on the frame, draping skillfully and difficult. The wives of the artisans and the maids covered their heads with covers, which they deftly threw, arranging them in the most picturesque way. For this the hair above the forehead and the back of the head was sometimes shaved and the eyebrows plucked. The height of the ennen depended on the degree of nobility. This is how fashion took shape more than 500 years ago, inevitably changing and transforming into a modern look, and humble eyes and prayerfully folded hands ceased to adorn the lovely images of emancipated ladies. Maybe because they stopped being weak and defenseless? Artist: Vladiy Zart. Please check available sizes and materials for Saatchi Art Open Edition Prints.

Russia
I was born and live in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I began my career at the art school in 2010, later I studied at the art gymnasium at the St.Peterburg Stieglitz Art Academy (2013-2015). Most of the basic knowledge and skills I received in the gymnasium. After graduation, as the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren in art, l entered the St.Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design at the Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts without exams.I learnt various teqchniques such as mosaics, embroidery, stained glass, tapestries etc.In 2018-2020 I was coached by monumental artist professor and academician Alexander Bystrov, and easel artist professor and academician Pesikov V.S. when I was an auditor in their workshops at the St.Petersburg Academy of Arts. These workshops was a logical progression of my academic training. Now I am a student at the St.Petersburg Academy of Arts. I took first and prize places in various art spaces and competitions and also acted as an expert at creative forums and festivals in St.Petersburg. I lead many masterclasses among the creative youth of St.Peterburg. In the process of learning different techniques and using different materials, a worldview was formed and valuable experience was gained. Thus, skills and abilities accumulated gradually, these are painting, graphics, batik, wall painting, and many more. I like to work in various techniques and always get new impressions, develop new opportunities. I love experiments and discoveries for myself in my creation. After all, each artist represents individuality, his vision of the world, and conveys it in his way. At this stage of my life, I am most fascinated by oil painting and graphic portraits. I do paint quickly and immediately move on to the next work or I paint several works at once, simultaneously sketches for them. Any kind of creativity is a way of communicating one's own kind, a way of expressing the human essence in this world. What does a contemplative person experience when looking at a work of art? Is it possible to compreand the hidden language of the transmitted? If so, then he takes a step towards gainino access to that part of our mind that is beyond our control. This is the discovery of the unknown in the subconscious, which, as you know, open up new horizons of knowledge. Works are in private collections in Europe and Russia.
