About The Artwork
The painting was taken from a newspaper supplement. I was aware this scene could've been taken in a variety of global locations which I had no direct knowledge of. The image represented an idea of a remote, exotic location and a different way of living. The image is consciously second-hand - the reinterpretation of a photographer's image - which in itself is a record of the a haphazard arrangement of rudimentary pieces of architecture, which have, over time, taken on a beauty and pattern of their own. This is a great painting created in two distinct periods. I have found it to provoke conversation.
