The mark-making of the Pointillist artists like Seurat interests me. The mark is a signature of the hand of the artist and also an affirmation of being that is elemental. Much of my work in this series is about this basic building block of painting. The works also draw attention to the idea that they are paintings before anything else. Was thinking about ice cream when I made this!
