I started working on this painting on my engagement day with a self portrait in my engagement party dress along with my fiancee,2012.I finished it in 2013 adding the baby angel since I was pregnant then! The two white peacocks are a christian mythology symbol of pureness and eternity because of the thought that peacock flesh does not decompose after death.I am fond of using ancient mythology symbols in my art since my Ancient art history studies in 2009 and 2010 at the Higher institute of archaeology in Egypt. The composition established by the four arms and enhanced by the peacocks around a central emerald light source hint at eternity too, composure and safety. The surrounding semi-abstract garden in the background adds a heavenly fantasy like atmosphere and the cotton flower, very common in my country,Egypt,is a sign for home.I used oils, acrylics, pastels,Gouache ,oil sticks, ink and charcoal to make this painting that has many layers.
