About The Artwork

I was on vacation at the Catskills and Hudson River in the summer of 2018, and I had taken various photographs on my phone of the vast forest and gardens that I have seen throughout my time there. I was inspired by looking at various paintings of Claude Monet, and I wanted to emulate a style similar to what he presents. My goal with this particular painting is to evoke your mind, and to give off an appreciation of how I view everyday life. I feel that Acrylic is a very versatile medium, despite not working with such for that long. This is because I started out working with oil paints, but I much prefer using Acrylic nowadays because it does dry faster than Oil paints. This particular subject was something that I have been meaning to tackle after years of practice, being that I am more expressionistic with my style. I always was curious to see how I would go about painting landscapes, and it is quite surprising to see this as a result of hard practice. Impressionism is an era that speaks to me mentally, being that most of the artists within that era were rejected by the mainstream of their time. I feel a similar relation to such when it comes to personal stories, and my artwork does show how beautiful my mind can be. While I was making this painting, I was focused on playing around with color theory as I have seen it fit, as did many impressionists through that era. Movement, rhythm, and the dancing of colors are such subjects that I hope appeals to viewers of this painting. Do enjoy!
