About The Artwork
Subject “pond” was inspired by my year living in London, Uk. Ponds in my head are equated with United Kingdom, royal family, beautiful omnipresent parks. My thought went towards pond as a topic of the painting when I found out about Winston Churchill’s obsession with pond, but fixed when I had occasion to see the famous painting by expressionist Claude Monet, Water lilies in Tate modern museum, London, Uk. Koi fish came from my recent obsession with Asian art, due to my partner’s background. As well as koi fish being found in ponds. For colours I chose very vivid as fish represents life. I used shiny paint so the painting can reflect light just like the water does. The strokes imitate water flows.
