About The Artwork
It's been quite a while since I last painted an animal so I thought this small portrait of a pheasant would give me the opportunity to keep up my skills in the area. This has afforded me a bit of a break from my usual, larger works. The blue sky beyond the pheasant and vegetation provides a focus giving the impression that we are right at the edge of a wood looking upon this bird. It has cocked up its head, noticing the viewer and the blue sky frames that head.
