About The Artwork
Portrait made during my summer stay in Cotonou. The chief mason who supervised the work in my companion's house was tempted to have me paint his portrait. Portrait that I naturally gave him. He had it framed and he was proud to show it to those around him. This portrait was painted on gray cardboard with oil paint. We were installed under the palm trees in the courtyard. My model was sitting in front of a wax fabric himself dressed in a traditional costume.
