Powder Room Painting - Limited Edition of 80

'Powder Room' is a large textural and abstract painting on canvas. Using acrylic with added mediums and gold spray paint, I was able to create effects full of expression and technique to achieve this harmonious, unique and inspired work of art. Think, rustic, ancient, weathered walls, patina and industrial within a modern design environment and you have todays contemporary art. Full of detailed description of times past. The artwork has much texture and has been painted directly onto thick gesso (on cotton canvas) adding diverse qualities to the paint work. The abstract concept lends itself to a finish which is both rustic and rugged in its design with subtle tones of pink, orange, red and aqua, highlighting and enhancing the aged effect. Several layers of paint were applied with different tools creating both depth and contrast. It has been finished with a satin varnish protecting the artwork and adding a subtle sheen overlay. Acrylic paints and sprays are my favoured mediums for this style. They allow great freedom for expression and am able to convey what I need to express. My inspiration comes from many years of travel to interesting corners of the globe, be it ancient cities or more rural locations. I'd like to think that the viewer, like me, can see the charm and beauty of such qualities from aspects of ancient architecture. All fixtures and fittings are in place and therefore, ready to hang. Alternatively, the canvas can be framed in a style which would suit the interior, whether that is home, office or work environment. It has been created to give focus and interest to your room and complement a natural style of furnishing.
