ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A rainy day at the sea can be a metaphor for inner feelings and emotions.... I love the beautiful traces and marks that come from this mixed media watercolor technique... this painting is about light and elements at the sea and the structures you can find in nature, the light of sunrise that gives you hope and peace. All the very thin fluid layers of colors lead to a certain markmaking and leave traces on the canvas that are important for my work. There are lots of details to discover! 44x44x2 cm, watercolor, gouache, ink, acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, sides white, hook on the back. Ready to hang. Signed on the back and Certificate of Authenticity. Comes framed in a wooden floating frame without extra cost. The painting would also like white, dark grey, black, silver frames. (c) 2019 Gesa Reuter, all rights reserved. SHIPPING: Please note, your order may be subject to import duties and taxes which are applied when the delivery reaches that destination. I have no control over these charges and I cannot predict their amount. You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
