About the Artist

Rhia Janta-Cooper

United Kingdom

Rhia Janta‑Cooper is a nature‑focused painter whose work is rooted in the quiet, atmospheric landscapes of northern England. Originally from Germany, she has lived in many places — Kentucky, Hawaii, Costa Rica. Still, it was the soft, weather‑shifting light of Scotland and northern Britain that finally felt like home.

Her paintings are small acts of noticing: the hush before rain, the way a bird pauses on a branch, the gentle lift of light across a Yorkshire hillside. Working mainly in acrylics, inktense pencils or in water‑mixable oils, she creates intimate, calming pieces that invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with the natural world.

Since 2012, Rhia has lived in the Yorkshire countryside with her husband and their Border Collie, Harvey. The landscape around her studio continues to inspire new ideas, from moorland horizons to tiny botanical moments. Over the years, her paintings have found homes in private collections around the world, appreciated for their sense of stillness, warmth, and emotional connection to nature.

Her work has been shown internationally, including being chosen for the 2026 ArtWorks Together Festival, at which Red Road to Skye was displayed alongside a group of works by other artists. In 2025, she was also chosen by the Visual Artists Association as one of the "100 most promising and visionary artists", highlighting the increasing recognition of her unique landscape style.
