A quasar is a mysterious object whose name is derived from the word “quasi-star radio source” or a very, very strange star (or something else). They emit a large amount of energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation, which is observed over the entire length of the electromagnetic spectrum. Today, scientists believe that quasars are actually active galactic nuclei. The closest quasar to us is about 2 billion light-years away, and the farthest away are also clearly detected, though they are… as many as 10 billion light-years away. Blasar – these are quasars, releasing the most powerful known plasma jets that astronomers can observe from Earth. From their nuclei come out two rays pointing in the opposite direction. These streams of powerful radiation and matter can destroy everything alive on your way. If such a beam passes less than 10 light-years from Earth, there will no longer be life on it. The Blasar is a very compact quasar, which probably represents a massive black hole in the center of a giant elliptical galaxy. They are part of the active galaxies that form the so-called active galactic nucleus. The most powerful quasars have a luminosity that is thousands of times greater than the luminosity of entire galaxies like the Milky Way.
