"Rainy day in city tops" D Brian Burns II Painting

This is a drawing of a live figure on panel with an acrylic ground. The figure retains its drawing elements, and becomes transparent or hollow with the paint textures shown through the figure. Above the main figure are stylized mini-figures, suspended in the space. These stylized figures started with a line of self portrait drawings I was doing, and as such, they become a stand in for myself. since they are lacking features, they can also stand in for the viewer, as anyone can place themselves inside of the androgynous figures. These figures are suspended in a position above the main figure. If we where to add time to this image one could imagine the figures raining down and falling, perhaps to a death. One can also imagine the figures as flying, with the ecstasy of peter pan. By turning them upside down however, there is also a sense of unease in the painting.
