I am not a professional artist — just someone who found peace, joy, and color in painting. Art has always been my way of breathing life into silence, of expressing what words could never say. When I painted, I felt alive — it was as if every stroke of the brush carried a part of my soul. From Madhubani, Pichwai, Indian traditional art, to portraits and abstract works, I have always loved exploring the beauty of my culture and the emotions hidden within color and form. My journey with art began in childhood, when I first realized that painting was not just something I loved — it was something I needed. But life had its own plans. Responsibilities, family, and the expectations of an orthodox world slowly took me away from the colors I once lived for. I put down my brushes more than 30 years ago, and for decades, I only carried my art within my heart. Most of the paintings you see here were created long ago — before my marriage — and some were painted by my father, whose creativity and spirit deeply influenced me. Now, at 64, my health doesn’t allow me to paint the way I once did. With migraine, arthritis, and cervical pain, my body no longer supports my passion — but my heart still paints in silence. I find peace in simply sitting near my old canvases. They remind me of who I was — and who I still am, somewhere deep inside. Today, as life slows down and the world opens up, I finally feel ready to share my art — my world — with others. I am deeply thankful to Saatchi Art for giving me this opportunity to show a part of myself that has waited so long to be seen. For me, a white canvas was always the beginning of a journey — one that led inward. I never knew what the end would look like, but that was the beauty of it. My hand followed emotion, not thought. Every color, every line was an improvisation — a reflection of the past, a whisper of the future, and the truth of the present moment. Now, I wish to let these paintings find new homes — with people who see them with the same love and respect with which they were created. They have been kept in boxes for nearly forty years, and I believe they deserve to breathe again, to live in the warmth of those who truly appreciate art.
