About The Artwork

Rangoli, one of the most beautiful and most pleasing art forms of India, is comprised of two words, 'rang' meaning 'color' and 'aavalli' meaning colored creepers' or 'row of colors'.Modern art rangoli designs are inspired from the Hindu tradition of the colorful Diwali festival or simply as decoration believed to bring good luck. Contemporary techniques have been cleverly used and borrowed the designs and ideas from ethnic rangoli’s to create pretty frames that can be put up on walls in modern homes. My painting take you on a journey from simple dots to lines and to intricate designs that tell stories in vivid colors and styles. This colorful abstract paintings depict the powerful human feeling of desire in abstract art. I have elevated a humble folk-art form to a higher level in a creative and fun way which looks mesmerizing with the inclusion of various embellishments. The art of Rangoli is not only a cultural tradition but it also portrays the love and eagerness of a woman towards decorating her home. Every time my mother would ask me to help her in doing Rangoli in my childhood I would pay total attention to it. My special focus would be on how she applied her strokes and her patterns. I take pride in this unique, respectable, and worthy status carried by women over centuries. Indian women need to be lauded for carrying this unique tradition and art form across India and the globe, for centuries, passing it on from one generation to another.  This artwork is very close to my heart. It would look great against a dark wall in a social space, giving a focal point to the space. All work is uniquely created and protected with varnish and UV coating. If you wish to frame the piece we recommend a simple tray frame. This painting will be shipped directly from the artist’s studio. Signed Artwork.
