About The Artwork

The genesis of this water painting resides within the realm of imagination, a journey I embarked upon with the intention to explore the sea's enigmatic beauty in an entirely new light. Departing from my usual palette, I embraced the serene subtlety of grey-green tones, a departure that breathed fresh life into my creative process. Amid these tones, the color "Davy's Grey" emerged as the linchpin of my inspiration, effortlessly capturing the essence of the sea's elusive charm. As I allowed my imagination to take the reins, the canvas transformed into a vessel for the ethereal realm I envisioned. Each brushstroke captured the rhythmic ebb and flow of the sea, a dance of tranquility and mystery that seemed to exist beyond the horizon of reality. The choice of oil painting as my medium was deliberate; it allowed me to imbue the canvas with depth, texture, and a luminous quality that perfectly captured the play of light on water. The richness of oils brought the subtle gradations of grey and green to life, intensifying the painting's emotional resonance. This journey, marked by the exploration of a new color palette and the medium's versatility, unveiled the depth of my connection to the sea's timeless allure and the endless possibilities of artistic expression.

I am a self-taught artist who has done the eight levels of the Royal Drawing Society of London at the school level. From childhood, I was fascinated by the play of colours in nature, and I have come to love all its moods and find it an infinite source of happiness. I was fortunate enough to have travelled all across the sub Himalayan region, and forest areas and later on visited the coastal areas of my country as well as those of Australia. As a homemaker, I spent my life in isolated forested areas where my husband worked as a coal mining engineer. Unable to pursue my education in Fine Arts, I tried the difficult frustrating and lengthy process of learning from books and mostly these were the series of books written by Walter Foster. I could only pursue it as a hobby, till the Covid pandemic scare came a couple of years ago, as we were all forced to be cooped up in isolation I returned to my favourite hobby painting and I started putting in six hours daily. I joined the Serb group of Artist Phil Davis and followed the daily prompts to submit a painting and made efforts to project the prompt as landscapes For example the title “treat” was translated into a desert landscape with blooming flowers as “treat for the eyes of the beholder. My inspiration to paint comes from 1. My love for Nature, 2. While being cooped up during the pandemic was the only way to explore and relive moments spent with family. 3. It has garnered a great deal of self-respect as at 75 years of age I can contribute to society. 4. Through sales I may be able to generate enough income to help the needy.
