I believe that painting carries a positive energy and can have a calming influence on the mind and body. Through my paintings inspired by nature, I hope to convey a similar sense of quiet reflection, like a moment of meditation. Shina Choi is originally from South Korea and currently lives in the Bay Area of California. She graduated from an Art High School in Seoul and received a B.F.A. from the College of Fine Arts at Hongik University. Her primary painting style is abstraction, and her greatest inspiration comes from nature. She seeks to express the spatial feeling of expansive landscapes through abstract forms, reinterpreting natural elements such as light, sky, mountains, trees, flowers, fields, rivers, oceans, and clouds through simplified colors, shapes, and forms. Although she explores diverse visual styles, nature remains the central thread throughout her work. She believes that color has a powerful and almost magical effect, and that artistic elements can deeply influence human emotion. Through her work, she hopes to share a sense of positivity, calm, and uplifting energy.
