ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Deep relief surface with many layers of paint creating shadow and contrasts to suggest the textured bark of a gnarly tree, twisted and cracked but surviving and growing beautifully in my neighborhood. It's a reminder of the resilience of living beings whether plant or animal, the will to survive is strong. This is one of two paintings inspired by a tree I saw on a walk near my house.
