About The Artwork
I once visited Crete and Rethymnon Venetian Harbour, and while browsing through old photographs, it brought back the memories of this lovely harbour and the joyful meals eaten at the waterside with the company of family. The still waters and the way the colours reflected on the water were what inspired me to want to paint this scene. I was inspired by my photograph of the harbour, to try and fully reflect the colourful water and the serenity of the fishing boats of a small fishing harbour and imagined the tranquillity and stillness of being in the Harbour once the hustle and bustle of visitors had gone. This was painted with Acrylics on Canvas with the edges painted as part of the painting. Fixings attached for hanging. All my paintings are coated with matt varnish for protection and longevity.

I was born and raised in North London and now live in South Kent. I have had a passion for painting since I was a small child and undertook art classes at school. However, once starting work my painting dwindled and it wasn’t until I had a child and started doing painting and crafts with them that my passion for painting came back and I have been painting now for the last 30 years, while working full time. I started out with watercolour and pastels and then moved on to acrylic paints which I preferred for the richness in colour and versatility. Working within the NHS for the past 19 years I have found painting a great help in relaxing after a very busy day. I am passionate about flora and fauna and enjoy doing paintings with these in mind. I like painting a variety of subjects and take inspiration from walks in the countryside with my dog and visiting places that are calming and tranquil.
