Reverie Painting

The driving force behind my work is exploration, to see myself and the world around me with new eyes every day without any preconceived ideas, searching for an understanding and clarity in the complex beauty and logic of nature's design. I communicate by using a visual language composed of color, shapes and values, by creating images that invoke a certain emotional resonance that speaks in ways beyond the canvas. The human emotion is my main subject, whatever form it may take, a portrait, figure, nude or a simple still life and I try to translate that same emotion in my own way using my own tools. I find that the human face or body can say so much through expression or a certain pose and I think that communicates really well with the observer because it speaks in ways that are familiar to all of us or may reveal something new which is why I choose the figure as the main component of my creative expression. Oil is a medium that conveys that emotion for me, I look for fluidity and spontaneity in my work while trying to render a particular moment or place that holds a special interest for my creative spirit. The techniques that I'm using developed in me over a period of time, using now only the ones that are the most suitable for my own calling, for the time that I live in and the speed that the modern life brings and the way it affects my reasoning and creative response. I like the strictly linear expression in my charcoal and pastel drawings and the ability to say so much just using the line and the endless manipulations that are possible within this really basic organic medium. Sometimes I look for a new subject for my next work and sometimes the subjects finds me, inspiration seems to come in frequent waves and my ability to be open to new experiences and impressions is crucial to my work, I leave an open channel for communication with the world around me, the more I can absorb from it the more or better it will manifest itself on the canvas. The current direction of my art is going in that way of establishing a stronger connection with nature, following the light illuminating objects and faces, the delicate balance of polarities, the subtle moments that make great impressions and life interpreted in images, finding truth through the beauty of the present moment.
