About The Artwork
The piece works as two different statements, it is primarily an exercise in patience, I disallowed myself, once the initial white was put down, from painting over any of the black with more white, so each line is as it is, which ties in to the second statement, which is solely a thought experiment, the idea of reverse light; our perceiving of things usually is by light reflecting from surfaces to our eyes, so there then would be something that is perceptible solely by the lack of light, arguably this is called shadow.
