Road Trip - Sydney to Melbourne Painting

Passing Coolac an hour or two south of Sydney on the road to Melbourne, the sun rises as we start out early for the long drive. The colour pink flushes the hill-scape, and a couple of trees breaching between land and sky pique my interest in the ongoing, road/ land vista. The distant scene is crisp in my focus while the fore-ground is a blur of speed, changing more quickly. I draw , photograph and video what i experience of this enormous expanse of landspace. I reality that i miss living in urban Australia most of the time. There is so much beauty in the scenes that pass by so quickly. I took my studies out side to paint this large work, in order to relay the sense of the plein air... albeit removed from the actual place. I hope the viewer gets a sense of that pinky time of day and of the feeling of moving through the land. Somewhat inspired by Fred Williams, this is more simply a study of light and movement across the land.
