Rocky Painting

The inspiration for this artwork, is my dog Rocky. He is my inspiration as he projects quite a heartwarming and close quality towards me. He is my inspiration as he brings this pureness of love which cannot be found within a human. He is my inspiration because of his simplicity in the most minor things, such as waiting for me by the door when I'm arriving home. He makes my house feel like a home. He is my home. I aim to position the viewer to feel a sense of comfort and tranquillity. Using a degree of light and darkness in my colour palette, I aim to emphasise a rawness as by showcasing the subject in an impressionistic style, with luscious thick strokes of creamy impasto and acrylic to create this sense of emotional comfort and stability. This raw calming sensation is further enhanced through the fast heavy brushstrokes which are evidently shown in the piece.
