About The Artwork
"Romeo + Juliet" is a mixed-media A3 original artwork, mainly made with watercolor and charcoal. It represents Romeo & Juliet's first kiss exchanged during the masked ball given by the Capulet clan. Juliet is dressed up as an angel and Romeo as a knight ; they are entwined in a gentle embrace. Juliet's dress wraps around Romeo and flies off to create a beautiful drape in the background. Behind Juliette we see a night sky lit by golden fireworks created in metallic acrylic paint that glitters in the light. This is a Pop Culture artwork. I was inspired by the 1996 film "Romeo + Juliet", directed by Baz Luhrmann, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. I wanted to capture that one particularly romantic moment of the Shakespirian story. That moment when they are oblivious to the world around them and where only the present matters.
